Yesterday I visited a few folks to help me with my Christmas cheer.
I visited Herb Walker at the hospice in Halls. He was sleeping and had not ate or drank all day. Margaret said she was ready to let him go. She did not want to see him suffer any more. Such a sweet couple. They were married while she was a Sr in high school - they ran off and got married. She said Herb worked because he didn't make it past the 6th grade.
I then went to see Claude Bailey. I took him some blackberry jelly - he said I could have brought a bag full of $100 bills and it would not have meant as much to him. Of course I had a hug or two before I left. Claude said that hugs are better than hand shakes because they last longer.
