Christmas

Well Christmas is over today.  We had a wonderful time with family on Christmas.  We had snow!  First Christmas I can remember in years that was white.  Just wonderful!

Christmas eve we went to grandma Grigsby's.  Everyone was there except Chip who just had surgery.  Her house is SO crowded now.  Funny, it wasn't like that just a few years ago it seems.  Our family is growing but her house stays the same.
Then we went to Carolyn and Clarence's house to open presents with the Holts.  Great time of presents then sitting around to talk and play games.  We came on home around 10:00.

Mom and Dad and Cindy's mom and dad came and had breakfast with us Christmas morning.  We had lunch with the Troutman's.  I don't get to see mom's side of the family as much any more.  Growing up I spent more time with them, but now that I am married it seems I spend more time with dad's family.

We came on home and spent the rest of the day playing with new Christmas gifts and watching movies.  I had to get my new flip video going, and had a great time.

Sunday morning we had to cancel services at Graveston because of the ice and snow.  We did have lunch at mom and dad's as the snow was melting by then.  I hate to miss church because I will be gone to Passion 2011 next week.  I had my lesson all ready and everything.  I miss the fellowship also.  We went to mom and dad's for a spaghetti lunch and helped dad take down their Christmas tree.  Man was that fun to watch!  Dad has such patience ... not.

Anyhow, we came on back and cleaned up the house before an hour of reading, then we watched a movie Austin got.  After the movie we had a small family devotion that went south quickly.  We have a little cabin fever, but I somehow feel our attitudes were much better this evening.

I am thankful to God for the many blessings He gives me each day.  Family is at the top of the blessing list.  I have enjoyed spending time with all of them.  Prizes aside - family is the best gifts!

I went outside tonight to take the garbage out and to burn some boxes in the burn pile in the back.  I was struck by the wonder of God through snow.  The world is is quieter with snow on the ground.  Vehicles, planes and my own footprints are muffled by the snow.  Isn't it amazing at the wonders God performs for us each and every day!!!
